Retired navy commander speaking at July 3 Warbirds Dinner
–John Marck Wiemann, Commander, USN (retired) will be the guest speaker at the next Estrella Warbirds Museum monthly dinner July 3.
The public is invited to attend this dinner and reservations are a must. Dinner is $20 with a no-host bar. To make a reservation please call (805) 296-1935. Reservations must be made before noon on Monday, July 1. Doors open on Wednesday, July 3 at 5:30 pm with dinner at 6:30 p.m.
The Estrella Warbirds Museum is located at 4251 Dry Creek Rd, Paso Robles.
About John Marc Wiemann, retired US Navy Commander
Commander John Marc Wiemann was born in Washington D.C. and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland as the youngest of six children. He graduated with Merit from the United States Naval Academy in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.
He attended Naval Flight Officer (NFO) training at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida and Mather Air Force Base, Sacramento, California and earned his wings in November of 1987. He was then assigned to Patrol Squadron 45 in Jacksonville, Florida and deployed to Scotland, Bermuda, the Azores, Spain, Crete and France primarily tracking Russian submarines in the Atlantic and Mediterranean.
In October of 1991 John Marc reported to the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo, California where he taught ROTC leadership and maritime strategy courses and served as the Training Officer for the Merchant Marine Midshipman.
In 1994 he left active duty to go to seminary and enter into ministry. He joined the Naval Reserves with Patrol Squadron 65 in Point Mugu, California. His assignments included NATOPS Evaluator, Training Officer, Maintenance Officer, Administrative Officer, Command Executive Assistant. As Tactical Coordinator and Mission Commander in the P-3 Orion aircraft he led missions out of Hawaii, Panama, Belize, Curacao, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Ecuador, South Korea, Okinawa and Misawa, Japan.
He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Master’s Seminary, Los Angeles in 1997 with a Masters of Divinity degree. John Marc has served as the Lead Pastor of Cornerstone Community Church of Atascadero since July of 2000.
In July of 2006, he retired from the Navy as a Commander with 2500 hours in the P-3 Orion aircraft. John Marc and Paula have been married since 1988 and have four children. Marie – 23 years (currently at UC Davis Veterinary School), Austin – 25 years (USNA ’16, Marine Artillery Officer), John Paul – 26 years (USNA ‘15, Navy P-8 Pilot), Jennifer – 27 years (married to Jacob, USNA ’14, Navy Intelligence Officer) and one-year old grandson, Hudson.
