Robert Lee Hightower dies at 83

– Robert Lee Hightower, aged 83, of Paso Robles, passed away on Aug. 18, at the VA Medical Center in Hot Springs, S.D.

Hightower was born in Phoenix, Ariz., on Nov. 28, 1931, to Robert and Lou Ila (O’Brien) Hightower. He was in the United States Navy from 1949, serving in the Korean War on two aircraft carriers, until his honorable discharge in 1953.

Hightower was a rock hound, coin collector, avid bridge player and loved to read. Hightower always had a kind word to share; he was tender hearted and a blessing wherever he went. He loved and cherished his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Hightower truly lived until the end.

Hightower is survived by two beloved daughters, Lee Marx of San Miguel, and Terry Toomey of Hot Springs; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Florence Jean Hightower.
