The Rotary Club of Celaya, Mexico, located northwest of Mexico City, has a dispensary of medical supplies for the impoverished in their area. They supply wheel chairs, hospital beds, walkers, prostheses, braces and most every kind of reusable medical supplies at little or no cost to the patient or family, for a short-term rental while the patient recuperates.

The Rotary Club of Templeton has been collecting new and gently used medical supplies for this Rotary project over the last five months and more items are sought. Items needed include crutches, braces, new first aid supplies, splints, wheelchairs, beds and other medical equipment.

On Saturday, February 28, representative’s from the local club will hold a collection drive at the Templeton Farmers Market, from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Templeton Community Park.

“Its a great time to clean out your garages and closets or even purchase something new from a local medical supply company or pharmacy, and bring it to the park that morning to donate to this important cause,” says Templeton Rotary President Will Van Kranenburg. Donation receipts will be provided.

Additional needs include cash donations to offset the cost of storage, truck rental and fuel to deliver the supplies to the California boarder in March or April. Donations can be accepted at the event on Feb. 28 or can be mailed to Rotary Club of Templeton, P.O. Box 1496, Templeton, CA, 93465. Donations are tax deductible.
