Class effort brings in nearly $600
– Fourth-grade students at Saint Rose Catholic School in Paso Robles hosted a school-wide bake sale and raised nearly $600 to support people experiencing homelessness in the community.
The effort was led by fourth graders Matthew Andros and Hadley Hoover, who chaired the bake sale committee under the guidance of fourth grade teacher Mrs. Glunz. The committee developed the bake sale strategy, including advertising, production, and sales, with the goal of raising funds for local needs.
The idea for the bake sale emerged from classroom discussions about how students could positively impact their town. The class decided to raise money for individuals facing homelessness, and chose a bake sale as their method of fundraising. The fourth-grade class took part in the effort by making posters, spreading awareness, and baking items such as brownies, cookies, lemon bars, and Easter cupcakes.

Students and parents attended the event in support. The fundraiser brought in nearly $600, which the students chose to use for purchasing groceries, toiletries, warm socks, and blankets.
Following a classroom visit by a representative from Echo Homeless Shelter, the class decided to donate the supplies to the shelter. The items were sorted and distributed to Echo Homeless Shelter in Atascadero, with the goal of helping nearly 100 people in need.
