Sample ballots mailed to voters

–The Sample Ballot Booklets for the March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary Election were just mailed and will be arriving in mailboxes this week, according to County Clerk-Recorder Tommy Gong. The sample ballot booklet contains a copy of the ballot contests, candidate statements and measure information for contests on the voter’s ballot, the polling place location assigned to the voter and an application for a vote-by-mail ballot. This mailing will include voters who were registered as of Jan. 10 and are not registered as permanent vote-by-mail voters. Voters with permanent vote-by-mail status and those residing in a vote-by-mail precinct will receive their local candidate and measure information along with their vote-by-mail ballot which will be mailed Feb. 3. All households with registered voters will also be receiving the state voter information guides which contain information about the state propositions and candidates.

Voters are urged to use the voter registration status lookup on www.slovote.com, which allows a voter to check their registration status as well as their vote-by-mail ballot status. A voter will enter their birth date, the last 4 digits of their driver’s license and the street number of their residence. If an exact match is found, the system will confirm their registration status and their city of residence. It will also display their vote-by-mail ballot status and the districts in which their residence address is located. If anyone is unsure of their registration status or the website search does not display their status, they are urged to contact the elections office at elections@co.slo.ca.us or (805) 781-5228.

Voters registering after Feb. 3 and before the final registration deadline of Feb. 18 will receive postcard notifications with their assigned polling place or their vote-by-mail ballots if they registered to be a permanent vote-by-mail voter. To assist all voters, the polling place locations, sample ballot booklets and application for a vote-by-mail ballot will become available on the internet at www.slovote.com in the coming weeks. The State Voter Information Guides can also be accessed on the internet at www.sos.ca.gov.
