San Luis Ambulance deploys new 4×4 ambulance for remote areas

Ambulance is designed to reach patients in remote areas of San Luis Obispo County

    – San Luis Ambulance has added a new 4×4 off-road ambulance to its fleet as part of its 80th anniversary celebration, the company announced Tuesday.

The ambulance is designed to reach patients in remote areas of San Luis Obispo County, including the Oceano Dunes, trails, and other off-pavement locations.

“As we celebrate 80 years, we’re not just looking back, we’re looking forward,” said Justin Kelton, president of San Luis Ambulance. “This new 4×4 ambulance is part of our continued effort to meet the evolving needs of our community, especially in areas where traditional ambulances can’t easily go. Whether it’s the Dunes, remote trails, or off-pavement locations, we want to ensure that no call for help goes unanswered.”

San Luis Ambulance was founded in 1945 and provides emergency medical services across the Central Coast.

As part of its anniversary, the company is donating 80 automated external defibrillators to businesses and nonprofits throughout the county. The AEDs include training on how to use them.

Organizations that have already received AEDs include ALF Food Pantry, Pure Yoga, Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo, U.S. Academy of Martial Arts Inc., Madonna Inn, Pismo Beach Athletic Club, and West Coast Community Bank.

San Luis Ambulance will also raffle an AED at the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce Mixer on Sept. 17.

Organizations interested in receiving a donated AED can contact San Luis Ambulance at www.sla.md.
