San Luis Obispo County now has motorcycle CHP officers

San Luis Obispo County now has motorcycle CHP officers–San Luis Obispo County now has what the California Highway Patrol San Luis Obispo office calls “motors,” a.k.a. motorcycle-mounted CHP officers.

“It’s official, the San Luis Obispo Area has “motors!” the CHP office posted to social media.

“You may or (may not) want to meet Officer Banks,” the post continues, “Actually, he’s a great guy and the first permanently assigned motor officer to the #SLO Area in the modern era of the #CHP. Officer Banks was a motor officer in the Santa Barbara Area prior to his transfer to San Luis Obispo. When the opportunity arose to ride again, he jumped at the opportunity and was selected to attend the CHP’s rigorous motorcycle officer training at our academy in West Sacramento. As you can tell by the photo, he passed with flying colors! There will be another CHP officer headed to the academy for motorcycle training later in the year. We’ll make sure to introduce you to that officer upon their successful completion of motorcycle officer training.”
