Local AARP group offers free tax preparation services
Tax preparation services will be available from Feb. 1 through April 10
– AARP Foundation Tax-Aide in San Luis Obispo County will offer free tax preparation services for the 2025 tax season, assisting seniors and low to moderate-income residents. Services are not limited to AARP members, and there is no age requirement for eligibility.
Tax preparation services will be available from Feb. 1 through April 10. Taxpayers can book appointments beginning Jan. 20 by visiting ccfreetax.org. For those without internet access, appointments can be scheduled by calling (805) 931-6308 starting Jan. 27. The online booking system is strongly encouraged.
Nine service locations are available in San Luis Obispo County, including Atascadero, Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach, Morro Bay, Nipomo, Paso Robles, and San Luis Obispo. All locations operate by appointment only. Addresses and hours of operation are listed on ccfreetax.org.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide has provided tax preparation services to Central Coast residents for more than 30 years. The program is supported by over 75 trained and IRS-certified volunteers.
Nationwide, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide began in 1968 with four volunteers and has grown into the largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation service in the United States. The program is offered in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service. Locally, the San Luis Obispo County program prepared approximately 3,600 tax returns in prior years, resulting in more than $2.1 million in refunds returned to the local economy.
