San Miguel Home & Business Energy Efficiency Fair Jan. 22

EmPower San Luis Obispo County, the Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo, Staples Energy, the County of San Luis Obispo, and the San Miguel Community Service District invite local homeowners to learn about energy efficiency programs available in San Luis Obispo County at the San Miguel Home & Business Energy Efficiency Fair on January 22nd. The free event will take place at 256 13th Street in San Miguel from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The fair is open to both English and Spanish speakers and a complimentary dinner will be provided.

EmPowerAttendees will learn about the different energy efficiency programs offered throughout San Luis Obispo County and how to reduce energy bills while improving the comfort and safety of their home or business.

EmPower energy coach, Paul Menconi will be on hand to answer any home energy questions, as well as schedule free Energy Coach Visits for interested homeowners to take a comprehensive look at their own home’s energy performance. “It’s a great time of year to understand what improvements can be made to increase comfort in one’s home and reduce energy use,” said Menconi. “People are surprised that no matter the age of their home—whether new, old or newly remodeled—there are usually inefficiencies that can be improved upon.”

Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo (CAPSLO) will share about their Energy Services program, which provides free weatherization and energy efficiency upgrades by licensed general contractors and professional installers for lower income households and seniors throughout San Luis Obispo and Monterey Counties and the Santa Maria Valley.

Staples Energy will present on how businesses and organizations in the region can participate in their own energy audits.

The event will also provide information on how EmPower can help connect homeowners to qualified local contractors for home energy audits and recommendations on fixing common issues like old or broken furnaces, ducts, windows and insulation. These upgrades improve home comfort and indoor air quality while helping to lower utility bills and save energy.
