School district launching Anti-Vaping Task Force
–Paso Robles Schools will be launching an Anti-Vaping Task Force in the month of October and November. Their goal is to increase the awareness, education and action in the area of anti-vaping.
Across the nation, there has been over a 900-percent increase in vaping incidents for middle and high school students, according to the school district. Although vaping, or e-cigarettes, were created as a healthier alternative to smoking, the health risks are significant.
The district will be partnering with the Paso Robles City Youth Commission, Paso Robles Police Department, SLO County Office of Education and the Kayla Peach Foundation to increase student and parent awareness in the area of health concerns related to vaping and education on vaping.
They will be starting an anonymous tip line next week at Paso Robles High School. This tip line will be found on the district website and communicated to all students.
On Oct. 30, at 5:30 p.m., there will be a parent meeting at the Paso Robles High School Performing Arts Center. They will have a panel of experts to discuss the next steps as a community and the dangerous health effects of vaping.
