School district preschool now taking applications
Costs start at $200 per month
–Applications are now available for the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District Early Learning Academy for preschool-aged children.
The purpose of the academy is to provide an exemplary education to the younger community members in Paso Robles. Through a partnership with the district elementary teachers and staff, the academy will be a bridge to success for students.
The academy will be run by Lauren Handley, the new PRJUSD Preschool Campus Connection Coordinator. She comes to the district from Cuesta College where she was the assistant supervisor for their Early Childhood Lab/Children’s Center. She says, “I am incredibly excited to be a part of the district’s endeavor in bringing more high-quality preschool programs to the Paso Robles community. The existing programs in the area are wonderful, but are often impacted. I look forward to the early learning academy providing another option for families.”
The program will be offered at Winifred Pifer Elementary and Bauer Speck Elementary. When asked about the importance of a preschool partnership with the district elementary schools, Lauren said that, “as a former preschool teacher, I understand how time and space can hinder that kind of communication with elementary teachers. Being on the sites and assisting in fostering those relationships, will create a smooth transition for children and families.”
The academy will serve preschool-aged children from three to five years old. In order to qualify, students must be three years old by March 2, 2016 and be able to use the restroom independently. Costs start at $200/month. The goal of the program is to empower all children to be life-long learners, to find wonder and delight through hands-on curriculum, and to acquire social and personal skills that will allow them to be successful throughout their educational careers. Applications can be picked up at the PRJUSD District Office located at 800 Niblick Road.
