School district ready to begin kindergarten registration for upcoming school year 

Informational meetings set for Feb. 1, 2

–Paso Robles Joint Unified School District (PRJUSD) is ready to begin registration for the upcoming school year. PRJUSD has many programs to offer its students at every school site with a focus on academics, arts, athletics, and technology. In addition to a rigorous curriculum, students receive weekly instruction in dance, music, art, and physical education. The district also offers enrollment in one of two magnet schools: Georgia Brown Elementary (dual immersion language) and the Arts Academy at Bauer Speck Elementary (visual and performing arts).

PRJUSD will be hosting an informational meeting for all parents of incoming kindergarten, transitional kindergarten, and preschool students. This meeting is for parents of students who will be turning five years old on or before Dec. 2, 2017. The meeting will be held at Paso Robles High School at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1 in English and Thursday, Feb. 2 in Spanish.

Registration packets will be distributed at the meetings. Packets will also be available at all elementary school sites and the district office beginning Feb. 3.

Actual kindergarten registration will take place Feb. 14th – 16th for magnet schools and February 21st – 24th for all elementary schools. Registration will be held in the district office located at 800 Niblick Road from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Registration for new students entering the district in all other grade levels will begin on March 1 at the district office.

Kindergarten is for children who will be five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2017. Transitional kindergarten is for children who will be five years old on or between Sept. 2, 2017 and Dec. 2, 2017. Early entrance to transitional kindergarten is for children who will be five years old on or between Dec. 3, 2017 and March 1, 2018. Parents may apply for early entrance for the upcoming school year. Applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. PRJUSD also offers several preschool options including the Early Learning Academy.
