Paso Robles Joint Unified School District announced the appointment of Jennifer Thomas as Coordinator II of Special Education.

Thomas has worked in public education since 2011 and joined the district in 2017 as a school psychologist. She later served as lead school psychologist, where she mentored staff, supported systems, and worked on practices in educational psychology.

Her work has focused on students with disabilities, and her experience has included addressing challenges and opportunities in special education.

“I am honored to step into the role of Coordinator II of Special Education,” Thomas said. “My journey as a school psychologist has shown me that the best outcomes for our students are achieved through genuine partnership. I look forward to continuing my work with our families, educators, and the broader San Luis Obispo County community to ensure every student has the tools and support they need to thrive.”

Thomas said she supports collaboration between home and school and communication among stakeholders.

In the role, Thomas will oversee districtwide initiatives, monitor compliance, and support services for students across the district. She will begin July 1.

The district serves more than 6,400 students across northern San Luis Obispo County. It states its work is guided by values that include integrity, accountability, collaboration, innovation, compassion, and belonging, with a focus on providing a safe and supportive environment for students.
