School district sets TK, kindergarten information night
– Paso Robles Joint Unified School District will host a Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Parent Information Night on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 5:30 p.m. at the Paso Robles High School Performing Arts Center, located at 801 Niblick Road.
The information night is intended for parents and guardians of children who will enter Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten during the 2026–27 school year. District leaders and elementary school administrators will present information about program options, age eligibility, enrollment requirements, and what families can expect as their child begins school.
Transitional Kindergarten is available to children who will turn 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2026. Kindergarten is open to children who will turn 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2026.
The Paso Robles Joint Unified School District offers full-day Transitional Kindergarten at every elementary school site. Transitional Kindergarten classrooms maintain a 1-to-10 student-to-staff ratio and include a credentialed teacher and a paraeducator in each classroom.
District officials said the event will help families understand the differences between Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten and determine appropriate placement for their child.
During the meeting, families will receive information about developmentally appropriate learning experiences, classroom structure, daily routines, student support systems, language programs, additional learning options, after-school care opportunities, and how to prepare children for a successful transition into school. District staff will also explain the enrollment process and answer questions from families.
Enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten for the 2026–27 school year will be open from Feb. 2 through Feb. 20. Enrollment packets will be available beginning Jan. 21 at pasoschools.org and at the district office, located at 800 Niblick Road.
Families submitting enrollment packets must provide a copy of their child’s birth certificate, immunization records, parent or guardian identification, and proof of address.
