– Paso Robles Joint Unified School District will honor U.S. Congressman Jimmy Panetta today with the presentation of the Paso Robles High School Bearcats baseball jersey he wore during the 2025 Congressional Baseball Game at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.
The Congressional Baseball Game, a bipartisan tradition since 1909, raises money for charities supporting children and families in the Washington, D.C. area. Televised nationally on C-SPAN and Fox News, the 2025 matchup featured Congressman Panetta, one of the Democrats’ top hitters and a Navy veteran. He entered the game with a career batting average over .500, including two triples and a home run. His participation continued a family legacy, as his father, Leon Panetta, also played in the game during his time in Congress.
Although the Republican team won 13–2, Paso Robles was proud to see its Bearcats represented on a national stage.
“Seeing the Bearcat jersey at Nationals Park was a thrill for our community,” said Superintendent Jennifer Loftus. “Congressman Panetta’s dedication to teamwork and public service reflects the values we work to instill in our students every day.”
Paso Robles High School Athletic Director Michael Susank added, “Our athletes know what it means to play hard and represent Paso Robles with pride. Having a Bearcat jersey in the Congressional Baseball Game connects our local sports tradition with a historic national event.”
