School district welcomes new principals, administrative staff
– The Paso Robles Joint Unified School District has announced the appointment of several new principals and administrative staff members for the upcoming school year.
New appointments
Emma Barker-Connoy – Principal, Pat Butler Elementary School
Barker-Connoy has been an educator and administrator in both Compton and Orange County. Barker-Connoy brings experience in instructional leadership as a K-8 School Principal in Compton, then in Orange County, over the past seven years. Barker-Connoy’s school received two California Education Awards, both in 2022 and 2023.
Crirstina Velasco – Principal, Georgia Brown
The staff and students at Georgia Brown know Ms. Velasco well and are excited to welcome her as the new principal. She was previously the Guidance Specialist and will continue her work as the school leader as the school transitions to a K-8 and a new campus.
Daniela Topjian – Guidance Specialist, Georgia Brown Elementary
Topjian has moved from her Student Engagement Specialist position at Virginia Peterson to Georgia Brown. She is ready to continue her work with the students and staff on her new campus and support them as they transition to the new school site.
Christy Holman – Student Engagement Specialist, Pat Butler, and Kermit King Elementary
Since 2013, Holman has been an integral part of PRJUSD as a well-respected leader among her peers and is known for her commitment to optimizing student success. She said she is excited to embrace her new role and continue making a positive impact as a devoted elementary educator.
Amy Bowen – Student Engagement Specialist, Virginia Peterson Elementary School
With over 16 years of experience in education, Bowen brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success in student engagement and academic initiatives. Bowen is eager to contribute to the success of Virginia Peterson and make a lasting impact on student lives.
“We are excited to welcome these outstanding educators to our PRJUSD family,” said Superintendent of PRJUSD Jennifer Loftus, “Their dedication to student success and innovative approaches to education will be invaluable as we continue to strive for excellence in all of our schools.”
The new principals and administrative staff members will assume their roles on Aug. 1.
