Security guard killed after being struck by car

    highway 46 accident
–Gregory Norwood, a 52-year-old Paso Robles man, lost his life after being struck by a car Monday.

77-year-old Pedro Islasmejia was reportedly performing a parking maneuver at a parking spot on 325 Posada Lane in Templeton. Norwood was working as a security guard and was assisting Islasmejia. Islasmejia reportedly mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake and his vehicle moved forward rapidly, striking Norwood. Norwood later died after being transferred to Twin Cities.

Drugs and alcohol do not seem to be a factor in the collision, according to CHP. The incident is under investigation.
