Senior dogs need adopting

Local dog rescue, Meade Canine Rescue has had a busy summer and they are filling up fast, according to owner Charlotte Meade.

In this special edition of Adoptable Pet of the Week, Meade will be featuring a few “oldies but goodies,” looking for adoption.

Submitted by Charlotte Meade:

Dottie – a beautiful and shy gal who loves car rides, dogs, cats and wants to warm up to humans but takes her time. Not a mean bone and a calm and loving home would be perfect. Dottie is from SLO AS, reason she was surrendered: “new dog.” She seems in great health and recently had a dental. She is housetrained and quiet.

Peaches and Lucy – white Chihuahuas with two different personalities. Lucy is the more dominant and would most like to be one of one or few. Not to say she doesn’t live with dogs and do okay but she prefers her own space. She is wonderful with people. Lucy is from an LA pound.

Peaches loves her dog friends, Peaches loves everyone. Big brown eyes will melt you. Peaches is from Selma. Both are thin at under 5 pounds and both could stand TLC which they most likely have missed out on til now.

Rosie – A youngster at less than 3 years, Rosie is cute as a button. Rosie is not without her issues and has to be with an experienced owner, no children and no dogs who won’t understand her and can stand up to her. Full disclosure of course if we find a potential adopter for Rosie. Housetrained, 20 pounds.

Sebastian – Potentially a Lhasa, Schnauzer, Cocker mix who was given up at 14 when his family relocated. That one is hard to figure out because Sebastian is a loving guy, great with all dogs, cats and humans and only wants to please. His activity level belies his age. He loves walks, car rides and is a smart and endearing dog. His cataracts are all that give away his age. We recently addressed his periodontal disease; he will need periodic grooming. He is a volunteer favorite. At 32 pounds Sebastian is a solid little man.

Marshall – A solid little guy who is full of energy and one of our younger dogs, Marshall adores people and is good with dogs and cats. He loves walks and runs and being with his owner. He is prone to jumping out car windows and will take off when off leash (often just in play) but a fenced yard is important. He is fun and active and would love more human one on one behavior. He would probably be thrilled with children.

Honzi – a Beagle mix who would love to be one of fewer. He will make a great companion dog, is a good size, low maintenance, housetrained and anxious to be someone’s pet. Honzi has a smile that makes up for his ‘just a regular guy’ look. He hasn’t been at MCR long, we are just getting to know him. He may prefer to be one of fewer so we would love to find that match. Seems to like car rides and walks and treats and dinner!
