    – Nearly 4,800 visitors attended the debut of a new exhibition at Sensorio in Paso Robles over Memorial Day weekend. The event marked Sensorio’s fifth anniversary and featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live music, a maker’s market, and the introduction of a new stage and event lawn area.

The new exhibit, “Dimensions” by Hybycozo, is the latest addition to the immersive art destination, featuring large-scale walkthrough works with colorful lights in the rolling hills of Paso Robles. Organizers described the response to the exhibit as “wonderful.”

“We’ve had such an outpouring of support from visitors so far,” said Ryan Hopple, Sensorio general manager. “We were thrilled to welcome guests from around the region and so many immersive art fans from the L.A. area, and even other states and beyond.”

“Dimensions” was created over three years by Los Angeles-based artists Hybycozo, a collaborative partnership between Serge Beaulieu and Yelena Filipchuk. It features 44 large-scale geometric metal sculptures that guests can walk through as immersive lights and music shift around them in a 33-minute continuous show. Some of the sculptures are large enough to walk through, while others feature elements that spin as visitors interact with them.

Hopple said the exhibit opening and five-year milestone mark a new era for Sensorio as it continues to attract tourists to Paso Robles, which has grown in popularity as a central California wine destination in recent years.

“Paso Robles is such a creative and thriving home base for Sensorio,” he said. “We are so proud to help put the destination on the map and attract more visitors as we continue to grow with new exhibits. Paso is really becoming a cultural hub with the local food and wine scene, and now the arts, as well.”

The new exhibit is part of a series of expansions planned for Sensorio over the next few years. Another new exhibit, “FOSO” by artist Bruce Munro, is planned for later in 2024, along with an expansion of the Terrace area for private parties. Long-term plans include the development of an on-site hotel and conference center at Sensorio.

Sensorio first opened in 2019 with Munro’s “Field of Light” exhibit featuring tens of thousands of solar-powered fiber optic stems spread over hillsides lined by wandering pathways. Since then, Sensorio has welcomed more than half a million visitors, added several other lighted Munro exhibits, and has been described by Travel + Leisure as a “pilgrimage-worthy art escape.”

This summer, Sensorio offers a range of activities, including discounted Family Nights on Thursdays, a Summer Solstice celebration, Full Moon Experiences, live music from local bands, food, beer, wine, and cocktails. Special Terrace Experience tickets provide an upgraded seating area and other perks.

Sensorio is open Thursday through Sunday evenings throughout the summer with a range of ticket prices for different exhibits. For more information or to reserve tickets, visit sensoriopaso.com.
