Sheriff’s Office recruiting for fall volunteer patrol academy

    – The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is recruiting volunteers for its Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteer Patrol program ahead of the next SAVP Academy, which begins this fall. Interviews for the academy will take place in early September.

SAVP members assist with road closures during emergencies such as the Templeton Feed and Grain fire, provide support at the Sheriff’s Youth Summer Camps, conduct foot patrols at high school football games, and represent the Sheriff’s Office at community events including Safety Fest.

The program allows volunteers to serve as additional eyes and ears for patrol and to help at public events across the county.

Those interested in applying or seeking more information can email gnorris@co.slo.ca.us to receive an application.
