Update: Man shot in Los Osos after attempting break-in

The Sheriff’s Office is releasing new information regarding a shooting incident which occurred in the 1300 block of 6th Street in Los Osos.

On Feb. 15, when deputies arrived on scene they discovered a man outside a home who had been shot. Detectives believe the man had tried breaking into the home and the male resident inside shot at the subject. Detectives have identified the suspect as 31-year-old Ian Arthur James of Los Osos. James was not taken into custody at the time because of his medical needs which required hospitalization. Detectives are now working with the District Attorney’s Office to file charges of attempted burglary against James. The investigation is continuing.

Shooting reported in Los Osos

Detectives believe that man shot was attempting to break into a home

–On Friday at approximately 2:45 a.m., San Luis Obispo County Sheriff‘s deputies responded to a call of a shooting in the 1300 block of 6th Street in Los Osos. When they arrived, deputies discovered a man outside the home who had been shot. The man was transported to the hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

Detectives immediately began an investigation to determine the circumstances of the shooting. Detectives believe the man had tried breaking into the home and the male resident inside shot at the subject. The resident was not harmed.
Detectives are in the process of collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. No further information is available at this time.
