Shots fired after domestic dispute in Los Osos
– On Wednesday at approximately 9:13 p.m., there was a domestic dispute in Los Osos that resulted in shots fired, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
23-year-old Chad Lindsey Harsch Jr. was living at a home in the 800 block of Highland Drive when he began arguing with his live-in girlfriend. The girl’s parents, who also reside at the home, overheard the man making threats against them. They became fearful for their lives and the father retrieved his shotgun for protection, according to the sheriff’s report.
At this point, both the suspect and victim were outside the home. Harsch advanced toward the father who fired one warning shot into the air. Harsch picked up a hammer and again advanced toward the father. At the same time, Harsch began to vandalize a car parked outside the house.
The sheriff’s office received several 911 calls from neighbors and dispatched deputies to that address. When they arrived, deputies were able to de-escalate the situation. No one was injured.
Harsch was arrested and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and for making criminal threats.
