Unidentified man warned that a bomb may be on one of the city bussesSLO Bus

–At approximately 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, a white male adult passenger boarded a city bus at the transit station located next to the city hall. The passenger made an announcement to the other passengers on the bus that states in part, “I am passing out literature and talk about the possibility that there may be a bomb on one of the busses. This is not a joke, so I would advise you, not to ride the busses today or for the rest of the week until I am shown to be wrong. But I have reason to believe that this is the case. Thank you for your attention.”

The suspect rode the bus until it arrived on the Cal Poly campus and was stopped in front of the Performing Arts Center. He then departed the bus and walked north on the campus.

The suspect is described as white male adult in his twenties with brown hair, glasses and a short beard. He is approximately 6’ tall and with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt with a hood.

Cal Poly Police were notified of the incident and immediately contacted the San Luis Obispo Police Department about the event. Both departments are working together to address the public safety concerns. Since this notification all city busses have been vacated and will be searched by a K-9 (dog) team that is specifically trained to detect explosive materials or devices.

If anyone has any information as to the identity of the suspect please contact the San Luis Obispo Police Department at (805) 781-7312.
