SLO civic ballet receives grant

Grant will help support the 39th annual production of The Nutcracker

–The Civic Ballet of San Luis Obispo was awarded a $4,000 grant from The Foundation for the Performing Arts Center’s Clifton Swanson PAC Community Access Fund. This grant will be used toward the 39th annual production of The Nutcracker.

“It is because of these types of grants in addition to our community donors that we are able to keep the Civic Ballet of SLO alive, while giving back to the community,” said Artistic Director Drew Silvaggio.

The Nutcracker is a long standing holiday tradition in San Luis Obispo and as such, helps us in our mission to be the premier professional ballet company on the Central Coast providing classical and contemporary productions to all members of our community. We are delighted to continue to perform a free community outreach performance for local underprivileged families, invited nursing home residents, and local military veterans, in addition to three other ticketed shows.

The Civic Ballet of San Luis Obispo was chosen to receive this grant and is among nine recipients, whose grants total $27,300. This year’s grant making program is made possible through the generous support of many Foundation members. For more information about the foundation or any funds, call (805) 541-5401 or log onto www.fpacslo.org.
