SLO County Airport offers tips for smooth Labor Day travel

    – The San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP) is preparing for a busy Labor Day weekend as travelers are expected to fill the airport in celebration of the holiday and the unofficial end of summer. With an anticipated increase in passenger traffic, the airport is sharing five key travel tips to help ensure a smooth experience:

Passengers are advised to arrive two hours before their scheduled departure to allow time for parking, check-in, and security screening. The airport also reminds travelers to review TSA guidelines on prohibited items before packing. Liquids should be in containers of 3.4 ounces or less and placed in a clear, quart-sized bag.

Travelers are encouraged to check their flight status before heading to the airport by visiting the airline’s website or using their mobile app. All travelers 18 years and older must present a valid government-issued ID at the security checkpoint, so it’s important to have it readily accessible. Lastly, airport parking lots may fill up quickly during the holiday weekend, so passengers should consider carpooling, ridesharing, or using public transportation to avoid delays.

In addition to the busy travel weekend, the airport recently reached a significant milestone. In July, the airport recorded an all-time high of 69,663 passengers, surpassing previous records. “We are thrilled to see such strong passenger numbers, and we are committed to providing a safe, efficient, and welcoming experience for all who travel through SBP,” said Director of Airports Courtney Johnson.

The SLO County Airport encourages all travelers to plan ahead, stay informed, and enjoy their journey this Labor Day weekend.
