SLO County Assessor speaking to Rotary Club on Thursday

Rotary Club invites community to join its meeting to hear informative speakers

–The Paso Robles Rotary Club is inviting the public to join in its weekly meetings to watch local speakers address important community topics. On Thursday, March 11, SLO County Assessor Tom Bordonaro will be the featured speaker.

The role of the assessor’s office in county government is to discover, inventory, and value all real and personal property in the county. The valuations are then passed forward to the office of the auditor-controller, treasurer, and tax collectors who applies the correct tax rate, creates property tax bills, mails the bills, and then collects the property taxes. Other responsibilities of the Assessor include creating and maintaining assessment maps for all real property in the County of San Luis Obispo. It also tracks and updates property ownership records for all property in the county.

SLO County Assessor Tom Bordonaro former Republican California State Assemblyman who served from 1994 to 1998. He was the first wheelchair-user to be elected to the State Assembly. In 1998 he lost the seat to Lois Capps. Bordonaro was born in Fullerton, Calif., and graduated from Cal Poly with a degree in agricultural management.

“We have got some really good speakers lined up,” says Rotary Club President Bob Fonarow. The public is invited to join in the club’s Zoom conference call every Thursday from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. to hear the speakers, he said.

Anyone may join the Zoom Meeting with the link below. The meeting starts at 12:30 p.m., and the speaker begins at 1 p.m.
