SLO Film Center to host annual ‘haunting party’ Oct. 1
– The SLO Film Center will host its second annual haunting party on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Palm Theatre.
The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will feature haunted hallways, food, drinks, cinema-themed activities, and live music from local alt-rock duo Ghost / Monster. All three theaters at the venue will be part of the festivities.

In addition to the party, the SLO Film Center has scheduled a lineup of retrospective thrillers and horror films throughout October. The schedule includes titles such as Scream, Hellraiser, Night of the Creeps, The Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Bride of Frankenstein, along with family-friendly options. The SLO Film Center also presents the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival. This year, the festival will introduce a special award for Best Genre/Horror Film. The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival will celebrate its 32nd edition in 2026. The six-day event is scheduled for April 23-28 and will be held at venues across the city, including the Fremont Theater and the SLO Film Center. The festival is an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences qualifying event in the category of Best Documentary Short.
