Softec presents Student Robotics Expo Sept. 29
Air, ground and underwater robots created by local students and robotics companies will be on display
Softec, The Central Coast Software and Technology Association, recently announced its 6th Annual Student Robotics Expo on Monday, Sept. 29, from 6-8 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 222 Elks Lane, in San Luis Obispo. Admission is free. More information available at www.softec.org.
This event features local high school, elementary and college robotics teams. Educational leagues include – F.I.R.S.T, First Lego League, M.A.T.E, VEX and more.
Central Coast high-school teams will be demonstrating their hand-built robots: Atascadero, San Luis Obispo, Mission College Prep, Arroyo Grande, Nipomo, St. Joseph High School, Orcutt Academy, and Cabrillo.
The public is invited to meet and interact with robots and other robotics enthusiasts and be a part of this technology event. Attendance last year was over 350, with live television coverage.
In addition to producing the annual Expo, Softec also makes cash grants to Central Coast high school robotics programs. More than $25,000 has been awarded by Softec since 2004. Softec will be awarding at least $6,000 again this year.
