Acoustic music concert at D’Anbino Cellars on January 10
Songwriters At Play presents an acoustic music concert at D’Anbino Cellars in Paso Robles on Friday, Jan.10 featuring two inventive instrumental masters, and a passionate singer of original songs in the tradition of old-school country, folk, and gospel.
Kenny Blackwell & Dorian Michael
From old-timey to blues to Celtic to Latin, Kenny Blackwell and Dorian Michael play something for everyone; Blackwell’s mandolin and guitar work have been heard in television and movie scores. He plays in numerous bands, including the famed Laurel Canyon Ramblers. Check out his bio at http://kennyblackwell.com.
Michael has been a working guitarist for four decades playing blues and folk, jazz and rock and roll. He calls his solo music “contemporary traditional” – original music that reflects his interest in a number of styles of music. He was the band leader in a recent tribute to Karen Tyler, and he’s played D’Anbino with several groups, including The Irene Cathaway Band. Check out his bio at http://dorianmichael.com.
Amber Cross performs weekly in The Old Time Fiddle & Banjo Show, and has a new CD, “You Can Come In”. Originally from Maine, Cross grew up surrounded by gospel music in a small
town church where her father still preaches and her mother plays piano. Her original old-time style has been likened to that of an old Smithsonian recording. She writes from her own life struggles and experiences delivering her stories with unforgettable power and emotion. Her major influences are Hazel Dickens, Iris Dement, Rose Maddox, Tom Waits, Greg Brown and The Carter Family. Check out her bio at http://www.ambercrossmusic.com.
