‘Soupabration’ fundraiser tickets now on sale

– Tickets are on sale for Pacific Wildlife Care’s 5th Annual Soupabration, themed this year as “A Carnival of Soup, Wine and Chocolate.” Soupabration is set for Sunday, Nov. 1, in the Morro Bay Community Center.

Twelve chefs will present their best soups in a competition judged by celebrity judges, including Chef Chad Minton of Hyatt Carmel Highlands. Attendees will also pick their favorite soup.

Local chef’s competing this year include chefs from Fig Good Food in Atascadero; and Jeffry’s Catering in Templeton. Other competing chefs represent Cambria, Cayucos, Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo, and San Simeon.

New this year is the pairing of soups to wineries, which represent a wide variety of local wineries from the Paso Robles appellation.

Organizers have added chocolate to the mix with a people’s favorite vote. Pastry chefs competing for the best cookies using chocolate are Come Get Your Cookies from Grover Beach, Linn’s Bakery in Cambria and Sweet Alexis Bakery in Los Osos. Mama Ganache Artisan Chocolates will make chocolate during the afternoon for attendees to sample.

Limited VIP tickets are available. VIP ticket holders will enter the event prior to the official opening and have a private tasting with the chefs and wineries.

Carnival-themed entertainment will take place during the event, along with a live and silent auctions, carnival style games and wildlife ambassadors.

Pacific Wildlife Care provides wildlife rescue for the entire San Luis Obispo county, with treatment and rehabilitation facilities in Morro Bay.
