    – California Superintendent of Public Instruction candidate Gus Mattammal will appear at Dubost Winery, 9988 Chimney Rock Road, in Paso Robles for a campaign event on Feb. 7.

Supporters of Mattammal’s campaign, known as Friends of Gus, are encouraged to respond in advance at www.bit.ly/gusatdubost. During the event, Mattammal will outline his agenda for California students and public schools.

Mattammal is a candidate in the superintendent race and is the author of A is for Average: Why California’s Public Schools Struggle and How You Can Help. He has 22 years of experience as an educator, including building a multi-million-dollar tutoring business described by The New York Times as the “premier tutoring company.” Mattammal has said, “It’s time to bring the gold standard of education to the rest of the Golden State.”

The event will also include the first public unveiling of the Gus Bus, a retrofitted campaign vehicle. The decommissioned Ford E-450 school bus previously operated by First Student in Los Angeles County was later owned by rapper Lil’ Pump for use in a music video.

Mattammal’s campaign team said the bus will function as a mobile campaign headquarters and will support campaign commitments and voter outreach across California in the coming months. Attendees at the Feb. 7 event will be the first to see the decorated vehicle.
