State hospital worker in ICU after patient attack

Three additional staff members suffered minor injuries as well, reports say

–A male psychiatric technician at Atascadero State Hospital is in intensive care after being attacked by a patient on Wednesday, according to reports.

The attack happened in a hallway after 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. The incident remains under investigation, but the patient, who was identified as 36-year-old Henry Pellouchoud Scholten, was arrested on suspicion of assault resulting in great bodily injury, battery and elder abuse and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail, reports say. Three additional staff members reportedly suffered minor injuries while responding to the attack.
