State to begin reconstruction of San Simeon Boardwalk trail
Construction is estimated to begin on Wednesday, Dec. 17
– California State Parks will reconstruct the San Simeon Boardwalk Trail at Hearst San Simeon State Park to accessible trail standards.
The $1.2 million project includes reconstruction of boardwalks, compacted aggregate trail surfaces, seating areas, interpretive areas, and the parking lot in accordance with the Federal Accessibility Guidelines for Outdoor Developed Areas. Quincon Inc. of Grover Beach will complete the work.
Construction is estimated to begin on Wednesday, Dec. 17, and continue through April. During construction, the boardwalk beginning at the Washburn Day Use parking lot will be closed to pedestrians for public safety.
According to California State Parks, the project is intended to provide for the health, inspiration, and education of park visitors, regardless of their abilities, by helping to preserve the state’s extraordinary biological diversity and protecting its most valued natural and cultural.
