Student reports attempted robbery on way to school

–On Wednesday at about 8 a.m., a 13-year-old male reported that an unknown male suspect tried to rob him while he was walking to Daniel Lewis Middle School.

The juvenile victim said as he was walking in the area of Melody and Sylvia Circle, the male suspect jumped out at him and was holding what was described as a small kitchen knife, Paso Robles police report.

The suspect demanded the victim’s backpack and sweatshirt, but the victim was scared and ran away. When the victim arrived at school, he reported the incident to school authorities who in turn contacted the Paso Robles Police Department.

The victim described the suspect as: a white male adult, approximately 30-35 years old, with a graying dark colored beard, wearing a black hoodie type sweatshirt and camouflage pants.

Officers patrolled the area and were unable to locate anyone matching the given description.

The investigation into this crime is ongoing. Persons with information about this crime are encouraged to contact the PRPD with information.
