–On May 30 at 11 a.m., the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education, Opera San Luis Obispo, Ballet Theatre San Luis Obispo, the Paso Robles Education Alliance, Vina Robles, and the MOCA foundation will team together to offer a free performance of “Peter and the Wolf” at Vina Robles Amphitheatre. This show is available for all SLO County school- age children. To date, county schools have responded that nearly 3,000 will attend.

This marks the first event of its kind for SLO County residents. County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. James Brescia, is widely known for his support of education in the arts. “I am proud to have spearheaded this project,” said Brescia, “and am thrilled by the willingness of the arts community to come together to make this performance possible. Exposure to, and experience within the arts, is part of a well-rounded education. We are grateful to be able to offer this experience to all students regardless of socio-economics.”

This professional performance brings together some of SLO county’s greatest artistic talents. The star-studded line-up includes: the Opera San Luis Obispo Grand Orchestra, conducted by Artistic Director, Brian Asher Alhadeff, Ballet Theatre San Luis Obispo, with choreography by Gilbert Reed, and narration by popular radio talk show host, Dave Congalton. Show sponsor, Vina Robles Amphitheatre will host this special event on their majestic property. “When schools and arts organizations come together, we have the power to enrich our community,” said Brescia.
