Studios on the Park presents Memoria Disfrazada ceramics exhibition

Solo exhibition by Michelle Solorzano runs throughout February

    – Studios on the Park will present a solo ceramics exhibition titled Memoria Disfrazada by ceramicist Michelle Solorzano during the month of February in the Atrium Gallery at Studios on the Park.

The exhibition examines how identity and history are shaped through experiences of colonization and immigration. Solorzano draws inspiration from Dominican Carnaval, a cultural space where celebration and critique coexist. Through her work, she reimagines the mask as both protection and revelation, raising questions about who controls historical narratives and whose stories are remembered or obscured. In response to the current political climate, the body of work reflects on what is hidden, what is performed, and what endures.

An opening reception for the exhibition will be held Feb. 7 from 6–9 p.m. The reception is open to the public.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Studios on the Park will host a free presentation featuring Solorzano and Alecia Teague, owner of The Pottery. The two ceramic artists will discuss how their work and interest in pottery extend beyond the studio. The presentation will take place Jan. 31 from 5–6 p.m. at Studios on the Park. Those interested in attending may RSVP by emailing contact@studiosonthepark.org
    or calling (805) 238-9800.

Studios on the Park operates as a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing creative and educational experiences that enhance understanding and appreciation of the visual arts. The organization makes the creative process accessible to the public through exhibitions, programs, and community engagement. Its Arts Around Us program focuses on highlighting diverse art forms within the community.

More information about the exhibition is available at studiosonthepark.org/events/memoria-disfrazada/.
