Superintendent Williams responds to shelter in place, subsequent investigation

Line of police cars at Paso Robles High School taken March 20.

Paso Robles Joint Unified School District Superintendent Chris Williams issued the following statement in response to a shelter in place held at multiple school sites after a potential weapons threat made via social media and the subsequent investigation:

–I’d like to thank Paso Robles Police Department and parents, staff, and students for their patience as several of our school sites were asked to shelter in place. We worked closely with PRPD and other law enforcement agencies to investigate every concern that was brought to our attention.

I want to stress that our students were safe and never in any danger. Our students and staff did an outstanding job and are to be commended for their composure during the shelter in place and investigation.

We will continue to take any and all complaints and concerns seriously and will prosecute to the fullest extent of the education code and penal code. I have included a press release written in conjunction with PRPD that details today’s investigation.

Parents please continue to monitor all social media and report incidents to law enforcement and the school district.
