Suspected DUI driver crashes into power pole, causing outage, small fire

    – A suspected DUI crash on the 6400 block of Union Road caused a downed power pole, area-wide power outages, and a small vegetation fire yesterday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash remained an active hazard as of the agency’s announcement.

The collision brought down a utility pole, resulting in power outages in the surrounding area. A small tree fire caused by the incident was contained by Cal Fire.

Pacific Gas & Electric crews responded to restore power and address damage caused by the crash.

Authorities urged motorists to avoid the area and stay clear of downed power lines.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash serves as a reminder of the consequences of impaired driving, noting that driving under the influence can result in injuries, fires, property damage, and other preventable incidents.
