David James Krause, 41.

–On Friday, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Parkinson announced an arrest has been made in the homicide of 90-year-old Lawrence Albert Bross of Oceano. The suspect is identified as 41-year-old David James Krause of Grover Beach.

The investigation into Bross’s homicide began on Jan 24, 2019 when sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to check the welfare at a home in the 1400 block of Strand Way in Oceano. When deputies arrived, they discovered the body of Bross inside the home.

After an extensive investigation, Detectives were able to identify Krause as the suspect in this case. Krause was already in custody in San Luis Obispo County Jail on unrelated charges when detectives arrested him April 8.

“We have very dedicated detectives,” said Sheriff Parkinson. “Through their perseverance, we are able to identify and arrest the person responsible for this heinous crime.”

This case involved significant laboratory follow-up which resulted in DNA that clearly identified the suspect. This type of analysis is exceedingly detailed and extremely time-consuming, but the end result is the apprehension of a suspect, according to the sheriff’s office.

With the arrest of Krause, all six of the homicides investigated by the sheriff’s office in 2019 have been solved.
