–Brews for Boobs – a new approach to fundraising – is happening every Wednesday throughout October at Central Coast Brewery in San Luis Obispo. Joining in on the fun are several additional tap rooms throughout SLO County, all with the intention of bringing awareness – and funds – to the plight of breast cancer patients and survivors during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Each Wednesday at Central Coast Brewery, located at 1422 Monterey St. in SLO, guest bartenders, who also happen to be cancer survivors, will be pouring its very own Pink Beer from 4:30-7:30 p.m. A dollar of every Pink Beer sold, plus 100 percent of tips received, will go directly to the Cancer Support Community-California Central Coast.

“We are trying to fill the ‘Beer-ometer’ all the way to the top to meet our $5,000 goal,” says CSC Event Coordinator Erin Mjelde. “For those that enjoy a good brew, this is a fun way to gather with friends after work and raise some much-needed funds as well.”

In addition to the fundraising going on at Central Coast Brewery, there are four other participating locations that will be serving Pink Beer, crafted by Master brewer Brendan Gough from CCB, throughout the month of October and donating a $1 of each beer sold to CSC:

• The Pour House in Paso Robles, located at 525 Pine St.
• Luna Red in the Network Shopping Center, 1023 Chorro St in SLO
• Spikes at the Old Creamery, 570 Higuera St. in SLO
• Hot Shots, 250 Pomeroy Ave. in Pismo.

“This is a fun way to bring attention to the very serious battle that millions of women face every year – breast cancer,” says CSC Executive Director Christie Kelly. “Teaming up with Central Coast Brewery, and having other business owners join in, will have a lasting effect on many of our local breast cancer patients and their loved ones.”
