Templeton Area Advisory Group discusses improvements to 101/Main Street intersection
–The Templeton Area Advisory Group conducted a meeting at Vineyard Elementary school Wednesday night to get public input regarding the Cal Trans proposals to improve the 101/Main Street Intersection in North Templeton.
About 100 people heard Cal Trans outline three alternative proposals. One includes two roundabouts, one on each side of 101. The other two options would require more private property to build on and off-ramps. The roundabout propopsal would require about 4 acres. The other two up to 11 acres of private property for the infrastructure. Most of the property is owned by the Dusi family. They are grape vines were planted from the 1920’s to the 1940’s by Dante, Guido and Benito Dusi.
The cost of the interchange proposals varies from $15 to $22 million. The roundabout is the least expensive.
TAAG took public comment on the three options and other concerns. It’s the second meeting to discuss proposals to improve the intersection. Construction is not expected to begin until 2025. The discussion is expected to continue for another five years.
