Templeton community celebrates Founders Day 

Annual tradition returns to downtown Templeton Saturday

– Templeton celebrated Founders Day Saturday at the Templeton History Museum and surrounding buildings. The day celebrates the date in the late 1880s when the railroad extended service to Templeton. For about three years, Templeton was the southern end of the line. That was until the railroad reached Santa Margarita.

Ford Model As lined the street. Old fire trucks, carriages, buggies, and an old school bus were parked in the area surrounding the museum and buildings.

The old blacksmith’s shop opened Saturday with a blacksmith demonstrating how they operated the equipment to fix tools and machinery.

The Central Coast Vintage Machinery Association demonstrated farm machines used before tractors became common.

Outdoors next to the museum, they held a cake walk with the winner getting a locally made cake. That was a big hit. So was the free pumpkin pie.

Mostly people relaxed and reminisced about the history of Templeton on Founders Day downtown.
