Templeton eagles lose to Kennedy Thunderbirds of Delano 28-21
–The Templeton Eagles lost 28-21 to the Kennedy Thunderbirds of Delano in the quarterfinals of the CIF- Central Section playoffs. The Friday night game at Templeton started out with the Thunderbirds taking the opening kick-off and driving 65-yards for a touchdown.
Templeton answered with a touchdown on their first possession and scored again to take a 14-7 lead. The Thunderbirds scored again in the second quarter, but after a 70-yard touchdown run by Tyler Kaschevsky, the Eagles led 21-14 at halftime.
Unfortunately, lineman Chase Richards suffered a leg injury in the second quarter, and he was sidelined for the remainder of the game.
After halftime, it looked like a different game. The Eagles failed to score in the second half.
The T-Birds scored one touchdown in each of the third and fourth quarters to win 28-21.
RFK High School advances to the CIF-CS semifinals.
Templeton’s remarkable season ends with a record of 10-2.
In other games involving San Luis Obispo County teams, San Luis Obispo beat Madera 49-28 to improve 10-1 for the season. So, the Tigers advance to the third round in Division III. (The Tigers drew a bye in the first round.) The #3 seeded Tigers will travel to Kern County to take on #2 Bakersfield Christian next Friday. The only team to beat the Tigers this season was Templeton.
Mission Prep lost a heartbreaker at Orosi. The Orosi Cardinals outscored the Royals 20-7 in the fourth quarter to win 48-45.
