–The Templeton Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Founders Day Festival, a celebration of the town’s historical and agricultural roots, on Saturday Oct. 24, from 12-5 p.m. on Main Street between 3rd and 5th streets.

This year’s fair will include live music by Amber Cross and the Old Time Fiddle & Banjo Show, a “Kids Corner” with dress up, games, and prizes, and an exhibit by Tree House experts, Daniels Wood Land, as seen on Animal Planet’s “Redwood Kings.” Attendees will also enjoy performances by Main Street Dance and the Templeton High School Drama Department, doing scenes from their upcoming production of 1984 and Little Shop of Horrors.

The festivities will begin at noon, with a cattle drive down Main Street, to kick off the event, organized by a group of local ranchers, including Rex Swan of Swan Family Angus Beef and 5th District Supervisor Debbie Arnold.

In addition to the live entertainment, the annual harvest celebration will feature food vendors, BarrelHouse Brewing Co. beer and Clavo Cellars wine, arts and craft booths, quilt displays, non-profit organization bake sales, antique cars and farm equipment, miniature trains, blacksmith and tin-type photography exhibits plus the 2nd Annual Rotary Chili Cook-off, which features a $500 cash prize for best chili voted on by the crowd. The Templeton Historical Museum, plus the classic Depot building, will be open for tours and every visitor gets a free slice of pie or cake courtesy of the museum.

This event is free and will be held rain or shine. Rotary Chili Cook-off tasting tickets are $10, for sale at the chamber office or at the event. Home cooks or restaurants/caterers interested in entering the chili cook-off should contact Georgia Vreeken at (805) 440-7889 or visit www.templetonrotary.org/Stories/chili-cookoff
