Templeton High School Athletes of the Week
Templeton High School Softball
Player: Eagle Isabella Backer
Sport: Varsity Softball
Year: Class of 2021
Coach’s comment: Bella Backer is the Templeton Varsity Softball player of the week. Bella is a 4-year varsity starter and has proven each year to be one of the best players in the league. She is a team leader and takes the younger players under her wing and makes them feel comfortable. Bella is a force on the field and a leader within her team. – Coach Keith Swank
Templeton High School Golf
Player: Eagle Michael Gilliss
Sport: Varsity Softball
Year: Class of 2022
Coach’s comment: Michael was the medalist or low scorer for both teams in a league matchup between THS and Orcutt Academy. His score led the Eagles to a much-needed win that led the team back to their winning ways. Michael worked very hard on his short game and the hard work paid off in dividends when he chipped in for an eagle at Hunter Ranch to help lead his team to victory. This was his first eagle since he started golfing last year. Michael’s eagle will be the first of many as he has attained a greater level of consistency that will help him anchor the team going into league finals.. – Coach Scott Cramer
Templeton High School Basketball
Player: Eagle Seth Cherry
Sport: Varsity Basketball
Coach’s comment: In two games against Atascadero this week Seth averaged 13.5 points per game (highest for the team) while shooting 71.4% from the field. He also averaged 4.5 rebounds per game. – Coach Andrew Cherry
All coaches at Templeton High School are invited to participate in Athletes of the Week to recognize students who are a standout at a recent competition, showing improvement at practices, or bringing a great attitude to the team. See more Templeton Athletes of the Week here.
