LUCIA BARROSO AND WALKER CRAVEN TAKE HOME SCHOLAR ATHLETE AWARDS
The Templeton High School Scholar Athlete of the Year Awards are presented to a male and female student in the senior class who display superior athletic AND academic achievement while competing in at least one athletic program at THS. Both recipients will receive a plaque, and a medallion to be worn on their gown during the graduation ceremony. Coach Joe Farley, THS Athletic Director, shared the following about our winners.

    Eagle: Lucia Barroso
    Sport: Volleyball
Comment: Lucia was a standout on the volleyball court. She has led the varsity program to the CIF Division II playoffs each of the past two seasons where Templeton is by far the smallest school in the bracket. She was recognized by the Mountain League and earned first-team all-league honors for her play as a middle both in the Fall of 2022 and 2023. She also earned her first year as a high school coach, assisting the boys’ volleyball team to a #1 seed in the Division III playoffs. She has always been a leader not only in the gym, but on our campus. Her plans for the future include studying Mechanical Engineering at UC San Diego, where she will also be playing volleyball, and then attending Duke for her Masters in Biomechanics. I know that with her work ethic, positivity, and knowledge she will become the Prosthetics Engineer she hopes to be. – Templeton High School Athletics

    Eagle: Walker Craven
    Sport: Football
Comment: Walker was a captain for the football team, a CIF qualifier for Track and Field, and ASB President this past year. This student-athlete has overcome challenges and put in the work to be recognized as second-team all-league in football and track and field. He was considered the strongest player on the football team, someone who improved every year, and a great student. In track & field, his continuous improvement showed when he set his PR throwing shot put over 47 feet at the Division III Championships. Next year he will attend the Naval Academy where he will become an even greater leader and have a bigger impact than the one he has left here on our campus. He will be missed as an athlete, student, and leader. – Templeton High School Athletics

BROOKLYN THOMAS AND JOSH BELL NAMED THS ATHLETES OF THE YEAR AT EVENING FOR THE STARS
The Athlete of the Year Awards were presented at the Templeton High School Evening for the Stars by Coach Joe Farley, the THS Athletic Director to our top male and female students in the Templeton High School senior class who display superior athletic achievement while competing for athletic programs at THS. This year’s winners were Brooklyn Thomas and Josh Bell.

    Eagle: Brooklyn Thomas
    Sport: Basketball and Track
Comment: Brooklyn is an outstanding two-sport athlete who excelled in the gym as a basketball player and as a two-time CIF champion as a track and field athlete. During her senior campaign, she was the lone senior for the Templeton Eagles Girls basketball team and led them to the CIF quarterfinals. The league recognized her as a second-team selection for her efforts on the defensive end with her speed and quickness. Her basketball coach commended her for her “team-first attitude and one who sacrificed her statistics for the team”. As a track athlete, she contributed to the Eagles’ back-to-back CIF Championships as a sprinter and scoring points in the 400m, 4×100, and the 4×400 relays. At the Division 3 Championships she set her PR (personal record) in the 400M with a time of 1:01.1. You can also find her name in the record book for her efforts on the relay teams she was a part of. She is an ultra-competitive and dependable teammate and a role model for our student-athletes at THS. Congratulations Brooklyn. – Templeton High School Athletics

    Eagle: Josh Bell
    Sport: Cross Country and Track
Comment: Josh just completed one of the most decorated high school careers in distance running for Templeton High School and was named Male Athlete of the Year. He holds school track records in the 800M, 1600M, and 3200M among others. Earlier this Spring he set a Central Section record in 3200 at Arcadia with a time of 8 minutes and 42.79 seconds. This includes over 100 years of track and field records. Two weeks ago he won the masters meet and last weekend he finished 6th in the state. In Cross Country, he has the school record in the 5k among others. He is one of 4 Central Section athletes to be a three-time winner of the Cross Country Individuals where he has two of the top 13 times at Woodward Park for Division III. All of these accomplishments led to him being recognized as the Most Valuable Player over 4 times across Track and Field and Cross Country. Congratulations Josh. – Templeton High School Athletics
