    Shan McCornack

    Well that will ruin Templeton!

    Art M. Bridge

Is the restaurant also going to be torn down?

    Mary Ann Waiton

I can't believe it's closing. Sometimes change is not a good thing.

    Debbie Messer

That is so sad for all of us who have grown up with This Icon. To bad the new owners will not just improve the yard, and keep the tradition going. We will miss this place, and everything it stands for!

    Joyce Le Vine

    Where will Hoovers relocate?

    Suzanna Johnston

Such a shame, not only losing such an icon, also the thought of a housing development!!!! ); Does this affect the Hoovers Beef Palace Restaurant?

    Patricia Fagan Swindell

Another piece of local Americana bites the dust…too bad…

    Tabby Manrriquez Hodges

This sucks. But the wonderful people who moved right next to the property and then COMPLAINED CONSTANTLY about the smell finally got their way. Too bad we can't get rid of them instead of a really cool place.

    Claire Sacco-Post

Money and greed. Too bad some things can't be left alone.

This process (the sale of the livestock market) began quite awhile ago. To keep in the loop of what is happening to our community, attending the monthly TAAG (Templeton Area Advisory Group) meeting, every third Thursday of the month, will give you current info on projects proposed in our unincorporated community: http://www.taaginfo.org/about.html

the owners only wanted 100 units on the property, and the county made them put in at least 200 so that Templeton would proportionally have as many low income houses as the surrounding towns. the surrounding housing project was planned to have the TLM gone years ago, drive around and see the sidewalks going into the property. All part of the plan folks. the real problem is where are we going to come up with at least 200 jobs to support all of these new tenants?

    Serena Swan

I am SO disappointed! I don't think I will go to Templeton anymore.

    Janie Rios

this will really mess with Main street traffic. Where is the water going to come from? I knew this was going to be sold, but 200? wtf.

    Greg Furtado

It'll be a sad day for me as I've been selling bulls there every year for about 20 years.,I always look forward to that trip and the sale and the restaurant … Then headed down to Cal Poly for that sale the next day. 🙁

It is quite disappointing to see how Templeton is being over-developed. Growing up in North County San Diego and seeing how it changed throughout the years, especially the old farming and horse community in Carlsbad, is a huge reason why I moved up here. There was a similar situation with a big show barn located next to the Carlsbad Golf Course on El Camino where brand new housing forced everyone to leave the barn (Ride America) and there was talk of bulldozing it down to put a busy street through, but somehow the plans were overturned and it is becoming a successful barn as it once was. The traffic from this project as well as the housing development being built on Salinas Ave. is really going to change this quaint little town into a busy, over congested city eventually…. And a very good point about the water Janie Rios!!

And what about the schools? They are already over crowded. What a sad day for Templeton.

    Barb Cooney Kominsky

What a shame. That was part of the charm in Templeton.

    Kathy Nutt

I am so sad! Tempketon will never be the same.

    Rita Wilson

Ditto to the theme of feelings… 🙁

Hoover's Beef Palace will be no more ???? Please, Please say this isn't so !!!!
Hoover's will have to re-open somewhere else !!!!!!

    Robin Koker

What a rotten group of people who bought it. That place has a long history. I always see that place and my husband always eat there. A lot of fun people there too. What a shame. I like to know where are they getting their water from?

    Deanie Haynes

Isn't that typical. Probably some city person moving in from the city and wanting to make a nice rural community become like the hell hole they came from.

    Rick Evans

They have to find a new place. 🙁

    Richard Field Levine

More of The History of California ……….. lost ………..to many people, why move next door to a livestock market, let them move next door to Harris Ranch ……. Thanks to The California Rangeland Trust ………
