Templeton local receives international recognition for medical face shields
Ryan Botts is helping use digital 3-D printing to make face shields.
–Templeton local Ryan Botts recently made some major news producing face shields for the medical field from 3-D printers. The 3D printing process builds a three-dimensional object from a computer-aided design model, usually by successively adding material layer by layer.
Botts, a teacher at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, is working to provide badly needed medical face shields for clinics and hospitals in Tijuana and other high-need locations to help protect their healthcare workers.
Botts taught and coached at Templeton High School, has run Ironman triathlons, developed international flight plans, and was involved in large DNA genetic studies as a math major in Ohio and San Diego.
The university has set up a donation site that is tax-deductible, with 100% of the donations going to the project.
