    Templeton museum announces blacksmithing battle and chili cook-off

    – The Templeton Historical Museum has announced its first annual blacksmithing battle and chili cook-off, set to take place Saturday, March 15, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the museum, located at 309 Main Street in downtown Templeton. The event is open to the public, and attendees are invited to drop in or stay all day.

    The event will feature a tournament of professional artist blacksmiths, a chili cook-off and tasting, a metal art gallery, raffle prizes, a silent auction, and a blind forging battle. Proceeds will benefit the Templeton Historical Museum.

    The schedule includes:

    • 8 a.m. to noon: Tournament of artist blacksmiths
    • 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Chili cook-off and tasting
    • 1 to 4:30 p.m.: Blind forging battle
    • 4:30 p.m.: Raffle prizes, silent auction closes, winners and trophies announced

     

    The morning tournament will showcase blacksmiths competing for the title of champion. The afternoon blind forging battle will challenge participants to recreate an unknown object within 20 minutes, culminating in a championship round to determine the victor. The day will conclude with the announcement of prizes and trophies.

    Hand-forged sculptures from the participating blacksmith artists will be available through the silent auction.

    The Templeton Historical Museum, located in the historic Horstman house in downtown Templeton, is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the town’s history.
