Templeton welcomes Yessner as its newest Firefighter

On Tuesday night, John Yessner took the oath of office and received his Firefighter’s badge from Templeton Interim Fire Chief Rod Hewitt at the Templeton Community Services District (TCSD) Board of Directors meeting.

“John is extremely humble and I feel Templeton is extremely lucky to have a firefighter of his quality and integrity,” said Hewitt.

According to Hewitt, Yessner was born in Inglewood and earned a scholarship to play football for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He graduated with a degree in kinesiology and fell in love with the Central Coast.

After graduation Yessner earned his EMT certification, landed a job with Templeton Fire, and just recently completed the Allen Hancock Firefighter I Academy at the top of his class – earning 3 of the 4 top awards.

“I believe being a firefighter is the best job in the world and I can’t imagine doing anything else,” said Yessner.
A contingent of Templeton Firefighters and family members were on hand for the swearing in ceremony.
